Robert Kiyosaki was born to Marjorie Kiyosaki and Ralph Kiyosaki on 8th April 1947 in the fourth largest settlement of Hawaii- Hilo. His father was a professor by profession. 

He graduated in 1965 from Hilo High School and later on got admission to the US Merchant Marine Academy in New York. He eventually turned to join the U.S. Marine Corps as a helicopter gunship pilot in 1972, meanwhile, he pursued MBA. During his time there he saved the Vietnam Marine Corps and also won an award before bidding adieu to the job in 1973.

After attending the Erhard Training Seminars, Kiyosaki was moved and started tackling situations differently. He took up the job of a sales associate at Xerox, New York, after facing failure in his first venture- Rippers which went bankrupt in 1977.
